Itsy Bitsy Book Review: GOOD NEWS NELSON by Jodi Moore

"Bah! High prices!"
"Bah! People fighting!"
Bah! Rotten weather!"

When some people read the newspaper, all they see is the bad stuff, like old Mrs. Snodberry.

Then, there's Nelson, a newspaper delivery boy. He reads the newspaper too, but instead of complaining about the bad news, he devises a plan to change it for the better.

GOOD NEWS NELSON is an upbeat story which can't help but leave readers smiling. It is a sweet experience of nostalgic illustrations, an unlikely friendship, and the joy that comes from serving others.

Just as Nelson convinces cranky Mrs. Snodberry that "people care", readers will begin to care about Nelson and become inspired to do something more, to not only think of ways to help those around them, but to turn those ideas into plans of action.

GOOD NEWS NELSON is a fictional picture book for ages 4-9, written by Jodi Moore (When a Dragon Moves in) and illustrated by Brendan Flannelly-King. Published by Story Pie Press, it will be released to the public on December 4, 2012. Thirty percent of the book's proceeds will support The Humane Society of The United States.
