In honor of that, I thought it would be fun to give you a special tip/recipe/idea, whatever you'd like to call it.
It has nothing to do with writing, but everything to do with a boring summer day.
All you need are (2) ingredients: cornstarch and water.
Mix one part cornstarch to two parts water. I usually do 1 cup cornstarch and 2 cups of water.
Then . . . send the kids outside with a bowl of it. (Seriously, you are going to want them outside and not in your living room.)
Squeeze it and it'll be firm. Release your grip, and it'll turn to a gooey mess. Your kids will think it is the most amazing stuff ever.
And come to think of it, the kids might have so much fun, they'll leave you alone long enough for your to revise your latest WIP.
When they're done, get out the hose and spray, spray, spray. The cornstarch will disintegrate into the water as well as cool off the children in the hot summer heat.
Happy playing. : )
