Itsy Bitsy Book Review: THE MYTHIC GUIDE TO CHARACTERS by Dr. Antonio del Drago

Sure, you've wondered what your character's favorite food is . . . but what you may not have thought about before is why (they think) that particular food is their favorite.

Perhaps the reason your character loves mac 'n cheese with broccoli on top, has to do with it being fed to him as a toddler while his mother kissed his chubby cheeks and sang nursery rhymes to him.

Your character himself might not know why he likes this particular food, but YOU, the writer, will be doing yourself a favor if you do. In order to create believable characters which readers can sympathize with and relate to, you have to understand the essence of human mentality.

That's where this little beauty comes in. Far more than just a guide to characters, as its title implies, this book covers all the basic stereo-types, but also explores such intricate things as the unconscious mind--which undoubtedly plays a huge role in how a person talks, acts, thinks, feels, and interprets the world around them.

THE MYTHIC GUIDE TO CHARACTERS by Antonio del Drago induces thinking on a deeper level and in turn, will help writers produce real characters. Intriguing, interesting, entertaining, and a valuable tool for all writers.
